2019 CSA CLASSIC

The CSA Classic is a two-day event, played on Saturday and Sunday, November 23 & 24 for U14-U19 boys and girls.  This is an open tournament for US Club, CalNorth and AYSO recreational teams. Depending on the number of teams registered the event will be hosted by NYSL in Natomas. Teams will be placed in groups of 4-6 teams.  Each team will play 2-3 partial games. Teams are grouped based on their records during the season.

The CSA Classic is meant to be a fun, a great way to finish the Fall season.

1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams will receive medals.  The 1st place teams will receive a trophy.

2019 CSA CLASSIC RULES

1. GENERAL The “CSA Classic” is an Open Recreational ONLY event that will be played under FIFA, USYA and US Club rules except as modified by the following.

2. CREDENTIALS Teams will be checked by Tournament Staff 45 minutes before their first game each day. Players will be check for proper equipment. The following should be in the possession of each coach for verification:

  • Official Team Roster
  • Player Passes (U16-U19) if applicable
  • All teams should have on hand their standard medical release form with original signature of parent/guardian.
  • No guest players will be allowed


3. CANCELLATION
In the event that the tournament is canceled prior to team acceptance, the tournament will refund the full amount of the tournament fees to teams. Once a team has been notified of being acceptance into the tournament the tournament fee cannot be refunded.

4. WEATHER If it rains, and the city closes the parks we will not play.   There are no rain make-ups and no refunds for rain cancelation.

5. HOME TEAM The first team listed on the schedule is the home team.  The home team is responsible to change jersey color if there is a conflict in the opinion of the referee.  For championship and consolation games, the team with the highest point total shall be the home team.  If teams have the same point total, a coin toss shall determine the home team.

6. BENCH AREA Unless BOTH teams agree otherwise, the home team shall occupy the north or west sidelines and the visiting team shall occupy the south or east sidelines.  The bench areas for each team shall be within ten yards of the mid-line.  NO COACHING IS ALLOWED FROM OUTSIDE OF THE BENCH AREA.

7. FORMAT (Dependent on number of teams in age group)

All Age Groups:

4 or 5 Team Bracket: The teams in the age group will each play 3 or 4 games in a round robin format.  Points will be totaled for each game.  At the end of the round robin format places will be determined based on highest point totals.

OR:

2 Flight Bracket: The teams in each flight will play a round robin format.  Teams with the highest point total in each flight after the 3 preliminary games shall advance to the championship game.  Teams with the second highest point total shall advance to the consolation game.

Games shall start within 10 minutes of the scheduled time.  Any team not ready to play within 10 minutes of the scheduled time (with at least 7 players on the field) shall forfeit and the opposing team will be credited with a 2-0 win (9 points=6 for win+2 goals+1 for shutout).  Teams with less than 7 players at any time during the game will also forfeit.  Points shall be based on the score at the time of the forfeit with a minimum of 9 points awarded.

If championship and consolation games are tied at the end of regulation, the winner shall be determined by penalty kicks per FIFA rules and regulations (5 penalty kicks per team).  Penalty kicks may be moved to a different field at the discretion of the tournament official to accommodate the schedule.

 

9. SCORING Points for the preliminary round shall be as follows:        

6 points for a win

3 points for a tie (in the event of a 0-0 tie each team shall also be awarded a point for a shutout)

          1 point for each goal scored (win, loss or tie) up to a maximum of 3 goals

          1 point for a shutout

          minus one (1) point for each goal in excess of a 6-goal advantage.

          minus two (2) points for each goal in equal to or excess of an 8-goal advantage.

          minus one (1) point for each red card issued to a player.

          minus two (2) points for each coach send off.

 

10.TIE-BREAKERS The following shall be used to break ties in point totals after the round robin games.

Head to head result;

If still tied, team allowing the fewest goals;

If still tied, teams scoring the most goals (up to a maximum of 5 per game);

If still tied, teams with the fewest red cards;

If still tied, penalty kicks per FIFA. 

11. AWARDS The following awards will be provided:

1st Place winners – Team will receive a Trophy and each player will Receive a medal

2nd and 3rd place finishes – All team members will receive a medal. 

 

12. PLAYER PARTICIPATION ALL players in attendance are to participate in at least half of each match, unless there are disciplinary or medical reasons why they should not.  The Referee is to be notified prior to the start of the game of any player(s) who will not be participating in at least half of the match.

13. WITHDRAWAL Teams who withdraw subsequent to schedule printing (this package) shall forfeit their entry fee   

 

14. SPORTSMANSHIP Good sportsmanship is expected from all.  We are here to provide a positive experience for our youth soccer players.

Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, assistant coaches, parents, team officials and spectators associated with the team.

No foul or abusive language will be allowed.  Players or coaches breaking this rule will be ejected.

No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

15.EJECTIONS AND CAUTIONS Any player or coach receiving a red card during the tournament shall be suspended for a minimum of one game.  The Tournament Committee shall determine further suspensions.  The referee will retain the player or coach’s pass and forward it to the Tournament Director for appropriate action, including the respective Club/League Manager/President if the suspension extends beyond the conclusion of the tournament.

16. PROTESTS All games will be considered final.  No Protests will be allowed.
